LOGAN, Utah - For the third time this season, Utah State's gymnastics score was higher than the previous outing, but the Aggies were still on the low end of the score, losing to Boise State, 195.700-192.400, Tuesday night in a Western Athletic Conference dual at the Dee Glen Smith Spectrum.
It was the Aggies' second defeat at the hands of the Broncos in 11 days after a 192.625-187.925 loss in the season-opener on Jan. 11. Utah State lost to two-time defending WAC champion Sacramento State, 192.575-191.050.
USU's ledger is now 0-3 both overall and in WAC action while BSU improves 2-0 overall and 2-0 in WAC meets.
The Broncos won all four events in the team standings and took top individual honors in all four events as well with Amy Glass winning the vault (9.850), Hannah Redmon on floor (9.875), while Taylor Jacob and Linsday Ward tied for first on both bars (9.900) and beam (9.850).
Each school only had one all-arounder competing, with USU junior Nicki Felley taking top score honors with a season-high 38.775 while Glass had a 37.675.
Aggie freshman Jasmine Minion was named USU's Most Outstanding Gymnast of the meet, as she was second on floor with a season-high 9.850, as well as third on vault with a 9.775. Minion was also eighth on beam with a 9.625, her highest score in the event this year.
Fellow freshman Nicole Simoneau was tied for fourth on bars with a 9.775, the first time in the three meets that she did not win the event.
Sophomore Heather Heinrich was third on beam with a season-best 9.800, just shy of her career high of 9.850. Senior Megan Tschida was fourth on floor with a 9.800, just ahead of Felley's season-high 9.775, good for fifth.
After missing the first two meets after recovering from injury, sophomore Devin Markle made her season debut in the Aggie lineup Tuesday, placing 12th on floor with an 8.975 as well as competing as an exhibitioner on vault, scoring a 9.525.
Utah State opens a three-meet road swing on Sunday, Jan. 27 at Cal State Fullerton before heading to Southern Utah on Monday, Feb. 4, for a pair of conference duals. USU then is in a quad meet with Oklahoma and Air Force, hosted by Denver, on Saturday, Feb. 9.
The Aggies return to the friendly confines of the Spectrum on Friday, Feb. 15, taking on in-state foe BYU along with New Hampshire in a triangular.
All USU home meets begin at 6:30 p.m.
