LAS VEGAS, Nev. - Utah State women's tennis lost to Illinois State, 6-1, Sunday morning in Las Vegas, Nev. at the Fertitta Tennis Complex. USU is now 1-6 thus far on the season.
In singles action, sophomore Hailey Swenson score the Aggies' lone point with a win over ISU's Franziska Steinhardt, 5-7, 6-1, 10-5, at the number one spot. Aggie freshmen Monica Abella and Carla Limon, sophomore Taylor Perry, junior Britney Watts, and senior Bridgette Strickland all lost in straight sets.
In doubles play, USU's Strickland and Swenson fell to the Redbirds' Tanja Hrovatic and Natalia Lech, 8-6, at the number one spot while at the number three spot, Aggies Perry and Watts lost to Illinois State's Carmen Peters and Hannah Esker 8-6. Due to injury, the number two doubles match was not played.
Utah State will return to action on Wednesday, Feb. 25, hosting Weber State at 1 p.m., at the Sports Academy and Racquet Club. Admission to all USU tennis matches is free to the public.
