LOGAN, Utah - Utah State's women's tennis team will host Idaho State at the Logan Sports Academy and Racquet Club Thursday, March 4 at 1 p.m.
USU is now 1-7 this season, following a close home loss to Weber State, 4-3, last Wednesday. At the number one singles spot, sophomore Hailey Swenson swept WSU's Greyce Farias, 6-0, 6-0. Freshman Monica Abella picked up the only other point in singles play against the Wildcats' Caroline Drugge, 6-2, 7-6, at the number three spot.
In doubles action, USU took the point with wins at the number one and two spots, respectively. At the number one spot, senior Bridgette Strickland and Swenson battled to win against WSU's Drugge and Britiny Moore, 9-7. Abella and freshman Carla Limon defeated the Wildcats' Karlie Hancock and Elsje Beneke, 8-5, at the number two spot.
Following its match against Idaho State, Utah State will resume action on Sunday, March 8 at 10 a.m., hosting Eastern Washington at the Logan Sports Academy and Racquet Club. Admission is free to the public.
