LOGAN, Utah - Utah State's women's tennis team defeated Idaho State, 5-2, Thursday at the Logan Sports Academy and Racquet Club. The Aggies improve to 2-7 on the season with the win.

USU's two wins thus far this spring have been against Idaho State, as the Aggies defeated ISU, 6-1, in Pocatello on Jan. 22 in its season opener.

Utah State took four of the six points in singles action, winning at the number one, three, five and six spots. Sophomore Hailey Swenson dominated ISU's Lisel Lewis at the number one spot, 6-0, 6-1, improving to 5-4 on the season in singles play. Fellow sophomore Taylor Perry defeated the Bengals' Stephanie Roldan, 6-1, 6-3, at the number three spot. At the number six spot freshman Carla Limon won by default.

The Aggies swept doubles action and took the point as well. At the number one spot, senior Bridgette Strickland and Swenson crushed ISU's Stephanie Roldan and Sophie Dang, 8-1. At the number two spot, freshman Monica Abella and Limon defeated the Bengals' Lisel Lewis and Risa Fujiwara, 8-2. Perry and junior Britney Watts won by default at the number three spot.

Utah State will continue home-court advantage at the Logan Sports Academy and Racquet Club, as it hosts Eastern Washington Sunday, March 8 at 10 a.m. Admission to all USU tennis matches is free to the public.
