LOGAN, Utah - Utah State women's tennis fell to Western Athletic Conference foe Nevada, 7-0, Saturday, April 18 at the Logan Sports Academy and Racquet Club. The Aggies competed in three WAC matches over the weekend and went two for three, defeating Louisiana Tech and San Jose State but falling to Nevada. USU holds a current record of 5-19 in the regular season and improves to 2-6 in WAC play.
The Aggies failed to take the doubles point Saturday, falling at the number one, two and three positions. Freshmen Monica Abella and Carla Limon fell to Caroline Stevens and Aodhnait Lombard, 8-4, at the number two spot.
In singles action USU was not able to tally a win. UNR's Florence De Vrye defeated senior Bridgette Strickland, 7-5, 6-2, at the number two position. Sophomore Taylor Perry fell to the Wolf Packs' Caroline Stevens, 6-3, 6-1.
USU also hosted a match between Nevada and Louisiana Tech at the Sports Academy and Racquet Club at 9 a.m. The Wolf Pack swept the Lady Techsters, 7-0.
The Aggies will compete in the WAC Championship in Honolulu, Hawai'i from Thursday, April 23 through Sunday, April 26. This is the first year that seeding for the WAC Championship will be determined by conference standings. Heading into the weekend, the Wolf Pack held the number three position in WAC rankings.
