Utah State placed third at the New Hampshire Invitational on Sunday with a team-total of 191.650 hosted by New Hampshire at UNH's Lundholm Gymnasium. Host UNH took top honors with a 195.000 while Ball State was second with a 192.850. Yale was fourth with a 186.525.

USU is now 1-3 on the young season, getting their first win in just the second meet of the season compared to the 11th meet last season.

The Aggies had five top-three finishers, led by senior Heather Heinrich winning the vault with a 9.800 while junior Lyndsie Boone was second on vault with a 9.75, tying her career-best. Boone was also second in the all-around with a 37.825. Sophomore Chelsea Marquardt and Brandie Dickson were part of a five-way tie for third on bars with 9.775's, as Dickson matched her career-high and Marquardt was just shy of her career-best of 9.800.

The Aggies tallied a 47.475 on beam, a 48.075 on floor, a 48.325 on vault and a 47.775 on bars for a team total of 191.650.

Sunday was USU's second meet in three days after a dual at Central Michigan Friday night.

Utah State started off on beam, with Boone opening the rotation with a 9.550. Sophomores Rachel Flessner and Haley Hogan followed with 9.500 and 8.875 respectively. Dillon then logged a 9.600 before freshman Amelia Montoya posted a 9.1. Heinrich then closed out the rotation with a 9.725 giving USU a 47.475 on beam. Sophomore Chelsea Marquardt tallied an 8.800 in an exhibition performance.

After one rotation, the Aggies were third as host UNH posted a 48.250 on vault while BSU logged a 48.225 on bars and Yale tallied a 47.050 on floor.

For the second rotation, Utah State was on floor, with Hogan leading off with a 9.450. Marquardt followed with a 9.400 preceding a 9.325 by Flessner. Montoya followed with a 9.725 and Boone posted a 9.775 before Heinrich rounded out the rotation with a 9.725.

The Aggies logged a 48.075 on floor and found themselves in third at the halfway point of the meet, as New Hampshire led with a 97.175 after tallying a 48.925 on bars. Ball State logged a 48.000 on beam for a 96.225 sub-total and Yale tallied a 47.200 on vault for a 94.250 score.

Moving to vault for the third rotation, Marquardt started things off with a 9.450, followed by a 9.575 by freshman Amanda Watamaniuk. Montoya logged a 9.550, preceding a 9.650 by Dillon. Heinrich followed with a 9.800 and Boone closed the rotation with a 9.75, giving USU a 48.325 on vault.

With three rotations in the books, the Aggies held their third-place position with a 143.875. The Wildcats remained in first with a 48.700 for a 145.875 sub-total while BSU was second after logging a 48.750 on floor for a 144.975 and Yale posted a 45.700 on bars for a 139.950 sub-total.

USU was on bars for the fourth and final event, with Boone leading off the rotation with an 8.75. After a 9.725 by Watamaniuk, Marquardt tallied a 9.775 matched by 9.775 by Dickson for their third-place tying score. Dillon registered a 9.75 and Heinrich closed with an 8.4. The Aggies had a 47.775 to secure their third-place finish.

Utah State continues its three-meet road swing to start the season by opening Western Athletic Conference action on Friday, Jan. 22 against Southern Utah at Cedar City, Utah.

USU's home-opener is on Friday, Jan. 29, against Boise State.

All USU home meets begin at 7 p.m. at the Dee Glen Smith Spectrum.

Admission to Utah State gymnastics home meets is $5 for adults and $1 for youth. Fans can buy a women's sports pass for $75 which will gain admittance to all USU women's basketball, volleyball and gymnastics action.
