LOGAN, Utah - Utah State's women's tennis team lost at Santa Clara, 6-1, Thursday as freshman Kristina Voytsekhovich was the only Aggie to post a win in singles play. USU falls to 6-6 on the season with the loss, while SCU improves to 12-4 with the win.

Voytsekhovich scored Utah State's only point on the day by defeating Kacie Wagner in three sets (6-4, 5-7, 10-8) at the number three spot. USU also failed to win the doubles point, but did claim one of the three matches as junior Hailey Swenson and freshman Jaclyn West notched an 8-7 (6) win at the number one spot.

In other singles matches, Swenson lost in three sets at the number one spot (6-7, 6-4, 10-8), West lost in three sets at the number two spot (6-7, 7-5, 10-3), sophomore Monica Abella lost in straight sets at the number four spot (6-3, 6-1), junior Taylor Perry lost in straight sets at the number five spot (6-1, 6-2), and senior Britney Watts lost in straight sets at the number six spot (6-2, 6-2).

In other doubles matches, Perry and Voytsekhovich lost at the number two spot, 8-6, while Abella and Watts lost at the number three spot, 8-0.

Utah State will continue action on Friday as it faces Hawai'i and San Jose State in a pair of Western Athletic Conference matchups hosted by San Jose State.
