LOGAN, Utah - Utah State track and field student-athlete Nick Bolinder has been named the America First Credit Union Utah State Student-Athlete of the Week for the week of May 3-9. The award is voted on by a state media panel.

Bolinder, a junior from Boise, Idaho (Boise HS) won the 5,000m, clocking in at 15:10.90 at the Weber State Twilight meet last week. That time ranks as the seventh-best in the Western Athletic Conference this year and was the junior's first attempt at the event thus far this season.

This is Bolinder's first USU weekly award of the season. Bolinder is the fourth Aggie men's track and field student-athlete winner in the last five weeks, joining junior thrower Joe Canavan on May 3, senior hurdler Nick Karren on April 12 and senior high jumper Clint Silcock on April 19. Overall, Bolinder is the sixth different men's track and field team member to earn the honor, joining junior sprinter Mike Pyrtle on Feb. 8 and sophomore distance runner Brian McKenna on Feb. 15 during the indoor season.

In their next action, the Aggies will compete in the 2010 WAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships in Ruston, La., Wednesday-Saturday, May 12-15, 2010.

MEN'S GOLF - Junior Tyson McFarland (Rexburg, Idaho) finished tied for 25th with an 8-over 224 at the 2010 Western Athletic Conference Golf Championship last week as Utah State finished in eight-place. McFarland began the tournament with a 4-over 76, followed by a 1-over 73 during his second round and finished with a 3-over 75.

WOMEN'S TRACK - Senior Shannon Prince (Farmington, Utah) won the discus with a toss of 47.06m (154-05) at last week's Weber State Twilight meet.
