2011 NCAA West Regional Round Schedule in PDF Format

LOGAN, Utah - Utah State men and women's track and field teams will send 13 athletes in 14 events to the NCAA West Region Premliminary Round in Eugene, Ore. at Historic Hayward Field on May 26-28.

THREE-PEAT: Utah State men's track and field team won their third-straight Western Athletic Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships and fourth in the last five years.

WAC INDIVIDUAL CHAMPIONS: USU had six athletes take home the individual WAC championship in their respective events including seniors Clint Silcock (high jump), Jason Holt (800m) and Eric Larson (1,500m) along with junior Ruth Hilton (3,000m steeplechase) and freshman Chari Hawkins (heptathlon) and AJ Boully (400m hurdles).

UNDEFEATED ATHLETES: Seniors Jason Holt and Eric Larson remained undefeated in their respective event with Holt winning all six 800m races and Larson winning five-straight in the 1500m this season.

UTAH STATE RECORD SETTER: Junior Kim Quinn set a new school record in the 5,000m with a time of 16:43.51 at the Sacramento State Mondo Invitational on April 9. Quinn also holds the school record in the 10,000m with a time of 35:29.82.

INDOOR SUCCESS: USU's men and women finished first and second in the 2011 WAC Indoor Championships. It was the men's second-straight indoor title and the highest finish for the women since joining the WAC in 2005.

WOMEN'S BIOS

Ashlee Cannon - Senior - Kaysville, Utah (Davis HS) - 100m Hurdles

Ranks at No. 47 in the NCAA West Region for the 100m hurdles with a time of 13.83 which she ran at the Cal Brutus Hamilton Invitational on April 23... Finished second in the 100m hurdles at the 2011 WAC Outdoor Championships with a time of 13.96... Finished 17th in the 100m hurdles preliminaries (13.81) at the 2009 NCAA West Regionals.

Ruth Hilton - Junior - St. George, Utah (Pine View HS) - 3,000m Steeplechase

Is the highest ranking USU woman in the NCAA West Regionals First Round sitting at No. 34 in the 3,000m steeplechase with a time of 10:37.17 from the 2011 Mt. Sacs Relay on April 14... Won the individual WAC title in the 3,000m steeplechase at the 2011 WAC Outdoor Championships with a time of 10:41.95 as well as finishing third in the 5,000m with a time of 17:19.46... Finished 26th in the 3,000m steeplechase (11:22.36) at the 2009 NCAA West Regionals.

Kylie Hirschi - Freshman - Sandy, Utah (Brighton HS) - 400m Hurdles

Sits at No. 35 in the NCAA West Region for the 400m hurdles with a time of 1:00.04 from the Cal Brutus Hamilton Invitational on April 23... Placed third in the 400m hurdles at the 2011 WAC Outdoor Championships, crossing the finish line with a time of 1:00.47... Finished second in the 800m (2:12.70) during the 2011 WAC Indoor Championships.

Shannon Prince - Senior - Farmington, Utah (Davis HS) - Discus

Is the lone Aggie woman to qualify for the NCAA West Region in the field events coming in at No. 46 in the discus with a toss of 48.70m (158-09) from the Cal Brutus Hamilton Invitational on April 23... Finished third in the discus at the 2011 WAC Outdoor Championships with a mark of 47.94m (157-03)... Placed 26th in the discus with a throw of 46.05m (151-01) at the 2010 NCAA West Regionals.

Kim Quinn - Junior - South Jordan, Utah (Bingham HS) - 5,000m

Ranks at No. 46 in the NCAA West Region for the 5000m 16:43.51 which she ran at the Sacramento State Mondo Invitational on April 9... Finished second and third, respectively, in the 5,000m (17:04.38) and 10,000m (37:02.58) races at the 2011 WAC Outdoor Championships... Holds the Utah State school record in both the 5,000m (16:43.51) and 10,000m (35:29.82).

MEN'S BIOS

Steven Atkinson - Senior - Malad, Idaho (Malad HS) - 3,000m Steeplechase

Is one of two Aggie men to qualify in the NCAA West Region (No. 41) in the 3,000m steeplechase, qualifying with a time of 9:02.44 to claim third-place at the 2011 WAC Outdoor Championships.

Joe Canavan - Junior - Palm Desert, Calif. (Palm Desert HS) - Shot Put

Is the only Utah State male to qualify in the NCAA West Region as a thrower, sitting at No. 15 in the shot put with a toss of 17.93m (58-10.00) from the USU Mark Faldmo Invitational on April 16... Won the individual WAC title in the shot put at the 2010 WAC Indoor Championships... Finished 21st in the shot put at the 2009 NCAA West Regionals with a throw of 15.38m and qualified for the 2010 NCAA West Regionals but did not compete due to injury.

Jason Holt - Senior - Fort Collins, Colo. (Fort Collins HS) - 800m

One of two Utah State men to remain undefeated in their respective event during the 2011 season along with qualifying in the NCAA West Region at No. 16 in the 800m with a time of 1:48.78 to win the individual WAC title at the 2011 WAC Outdoor Championships... Finished 45th in the 800m (1:52.58) at the 2010 NCAA West Regionals.

Daniel Howell - Junior - Manti, Utah (Manti HS) - 3,000m Steeplechase

Is one of two Aggie men to qualify in the NCAA West Region (No. 21) in the 3,000m steeplechase qualifying with a time of 8:53.81 from the 2011 Mt. Sacs Relay on April 14... Won the individual WAC title in the 3,000m at the 2011 WAC Indoor Championships... Holds the school record for indoor track in the 5,000m with a time of 14:11.62... Finished 19th in the 3,000m steeplechase (8:59.76) at the 2010 NCAA West Regionals.

Eric Larson - Senior - Missoula, Mont. (Big Sky HS) - 1,500m

One of two Utah State men to remain undefeated in their respective event during the 2011 season along with qualifying in the NCAA West Region at No. 31 in the 1,500m with a time of 3:45.79 from the Cal Brutus Hamilton Invitational on April 23... Won the individual WAC title in the 1,500m at the 2011 WAC Outdoor Championships with a time of 3:49.95.

Armahd Lewis - Senior - Stockton, Calif. (Edison HS/Sacramento City College) - 100m

Ranks at No. 19 in the NCAA West Region in the 100m with a time of 10.41 from the Cal Brutus Hamilton Invitational on April 23... Finished fourth and fifth, respectively, in the 100m (10.60) and 200m (21.60) races at the 2011 WAC Outdoor Championships... Won individual WAC titles in the 60m (6.77) and 200m (21.46) at the 2011 WAC Indoor Championships... Finished 30th in the 100m (10.65), 38th in the 200m (21.59) and was a member of the 4x100m relay team that finished 21st (40.60) at the 2010 NCAA West Regionals.

Silas Pimentel - Sophomore - Orem, Utah (Timpanogos HS) - 100m - 200m

Is the only USU athlete to qualify in the NCAA West Region in more than one event as he sits at No. 42 in the 100m (10.51) and No. 47 in the 200m (21.27)... Finished second and third in the 200m and 100m, respectively, at the 2011 WAC Outdoor Championships with times of 21.28 and 10.59... Placed sixth in the 100m (10.60) and seventh in the 200m (21.30) at the 2008 NCAA West Regionals.

Clint Silcock - Senior - Salmon, Idaho (Butte HS) - High Jump

Is the highest qualified Aggie in the NCAA West Region at No. 6 in the high jump with a leap of 2.19m (7-02.25) from the BYU Twilight Invitational on May 4 as well as being the only USU male jumper to qualify... Has won the individual WAC title in high jump five times, three times in indoor and twice in outdoor with the most recent at the 2011 WAC Outdoor Championships... Is the only Utah State athlete to rank in the top 25 in the nation for their event sitting at No. 17 in the high jump... Finished fifth in the high jump with a mark of 2.16m (7-01.00) at the 2010 NCAA West Regionals and placed ninth in the same event with a leap of 2.17m (7-01.50) at the 2010 NCAA Championships, receiving All-American honors... Also a two-time All-American high jumper for indoor.
