Utah State Football Postgame Quotes
vs. Colorado State
Oct. 3, 2015

Utah State Head Coach Matt Wells:
"Tremendous job by our young men. Hats off to our assistant coaches and our young men, I thought they came out ready to play. It was a tight-knit ballgame early on, but I loved the way we responded coming out of the lightning delay. There were some great individual performances. We're starting to come together as a team. We're still learning who we are and still trying to figure out our identities on both sides of the ball. I would be remiss if I didn't give a lot of respect to Mike Bobo. That's a good Colorado State team that we just beat. Those guys are going to win some games, I have no doubt about that. We wanted to be 1-0 at the end of the week, and we are. That's round one, here we go on the next one."

On Kent Myers' performance:
"I thought he played pretty well. There's room for improvement, he would tell you that. But to go out and set a school record in rushing yards by a quarterback, we're all really happy for him. The guys who were tied for the record before were here tonight watching him. That's what it's all about, you play for the guys who came before you. Kent will be the first to tell you that it was his receivers down the field, it was his O-Line. Coach Heupel did a nice job calling some stuff to get the ball in his hands."

On the ability to make adjustments:
"That's a reflection of our assistant coaches. I think they do a really good job. Having a by week probably helped us a little bit. We were able to self-reflect and see what our strengths are and how we can build on them. You have to start mixing it in schematically against your opponent. Hats off to our assistant coaches for the job they've done."

Utah State Sophomore Quarterback Kent Myers:
"I think the offense played very well. There were just some mental things with us. There were a few penalties that cost us a lot of yards. But overall I thought we played well, putting 33 points on the board. I'm just excited to see what else we can do, this being my first game of the year. Once we have a complete game, where everything is good, I'm excited to see what's next."

On moving forward through the season:
"Like Coach said, we haven't hit our peak yet. We're still not there. If we have six gears, I think we're only at three. With this being my first start of the year, we're still learning together. As we start watching film and looking at our next opponent, I'm excited to see what we can do. Tonight there were times I was trying to rush it and do too much.

Utah State Senior Linebacker Kyler Fackrell:
"Overall the defense did play well. We made plays. There were plays that we left on the field, but when it came down to it, we played well when we had to. Putting pressure on their offense was huge. Toward the end, we were able to do more of a four-man rush, leaving the other guys to drop into coverage."

On the return of the team's "swagger:"
"We came off the bye week rejuvenated and with a new sense of purpose. Ultimately, 1-2 wasn't what we wanted. All the goals that we had set before the season were still ahead of us, to get to the Mountain West Championship and to win a bowl game. Tonight was a huge test and I think the focus and energy were high."

Colorado State Head Coach Mike Bobo:
"It's evident that when we're on the road and make mistakes like we did, we're not going to have a chance to win the game. I thought we came out with more effort and energy in the second half. It was a great job by the defense to hold them to field goals, but then the penalties and turnovers really put us behind the eight ball.
