Utah State Men's Basketball Postgame Quotes
vs. Oklahoma Panhandle State
Oct. 31, 2015

Utah State Head Coach Tim Duryea:
"The only way you can really evaluate kids is in game situations. They tell you everything you need to know about how a kid is going to react. We'll do our most thorough evaluation of this film and on Monday, they'll learn a lot about themselves. Everyone got in, everyone scored. I was hoping we would have to play against half court defense a little more than we did. Our guys were forced to make some ad-lib plays, and for the most part I'm pleased with how they did. We just weren't strong enough with the basketball tonight."

On the strengths of the non-starters tonight:
"I thought Henry Bolton did a good job of making plays for a guy that didn't get to play a lot last year. Elston Jones is taking baby steps and getting better. Quinn Taylor is a guy that has come in and has a really good feel for the game. Grayson Moore had to sit out last year and is playing really confidently."

On the defense in tonight's game:
"Statistically we did a good job there. We wanted to play a little bit of zone, but mostly man. I was pleased once we got our defense set, but we're still having some trouble in transition, getting our defense set quick enough. We have to get better with that. Once it's set, I think we do a good job communicating what we want to do."

On his first win as the USU head coach:
"It's an honor to be the head coach at Utah State. I think I'll think that every time I go out on that sideline. I have a deep love for this university. It was a proud moment for me and one that I'll always look back on. Even though it was an exhibition, this is a school I will always remember just because it was first."

Utah State Sophomore Forward Elston Jones:
"I felt pretty good about the energy tonight. We kept the offense aligned and I was able to help out my teammates. We have a lot of depth this year. We could all play at anytime because we are that deep. We all have a lot of skills that we bring to the team."

Oklahoma Panhandle State Head Coach Jerry Olsen:
"I am impressed with Utah State. I knew they would be good with all their returning starters, but I am disappointed with how we played. We were selfish and the baskets we made were selfish. Utah State has a nice mix of shooters accompanied with a nice inside game. I think we played hard, but we didn't play very smart and we have to be able to compete with a team like this."
