LOGAN, Utah – Utah State junior cross country runner
Adam Hendrickson was named the America First Credit Union USU Student-Athlete of the Week for the period ending on Sunday, Sept. 30, it was announced Monday. The award is voted on by a state-wide media panel.
It is the first time this year and first time in his career that Hendrickson has been named USU's student-athlete of the week. With their sponsorship of the Student-Athlete of the Week, America First Credit Union donates funds directly to support student-athlete scholarships.
The native of Brigham City, Utah, led the Aggies to a first-place finish at the 45th running of the Lehigh-hosted Paul Short Run, presented by ASICS, last Saturday in Bethlehem, Pa. Hendrickson finished the 8-kilometer race in third place with a time of 24:34 as the Aggies won the title with 77 points, narrowly finishing ahead of Virginia Tech's 80 points.
Forty different teams and 360 individuals competed in the 8K Gold Race.
Utah State is back in action on Friday, Oct. 5, when the Aggies host the Steve T. Reeder Memorial at 3 p.m.

GOLF – Junior Chase Lansford (Colleyville, Texas) carded a final round of 1-over-par 73 to finish tied for 31st place at 5-over 221 (73-75-73) at the Colorado-hosted Mark Simpson Invitational held last week at the par-72, 7,676-yard Colorado National Golf Club. Utah State finished in 12th place in the 16-team field at 36-over 900 (296-308-296).
SOCCER – Sophomore midfielder Ashley Cardozo (Holladay, Utah) was the top offensive performer last week as Utah State posted an 0-2 Mountain West home record with losses to Wyoming (1-0 2OT) and Colorado State (2-0). Against the Cowgirls, Cardozo took two shots. Against the Rams, she took a team-high five shots, with three on goal. On the week, Cardozo led USU with seven shots, three of which were on frame.
VOLLEYBALL – Senior setter Kassidy Johnson (Tucson, Ariz.) recorded a pair of double-doubles last week as Utah State split Mountain West road matches with a 3-2 win at San José State and a 3-2 loss at Nevada. Against the Spartans, Johnson logged 38 assists and a career-high 21 digs, to go along with one ace and two blocks. Against the Wolf Pack, Johnson led the Aggies with 44 assists and added 14 digs, two kills and one service ace. For the week, Johnson totaled 82 assists, averaging 8.20 per set, 35 digs, averaging 3.50 per set, two kills, two service aces and two blocks.
WOMEN'S CROSS COUNTRY - Senior
Alyssa Snyder (Coalville, Utah) finished first among Aggie runners in the 6-kilometer run at the 45th running of the Lehigh-hosted Paul Short Run, presented by ASICS, last weekend. Snyder placed third with a time of 20:33 as No. 14 Utah State placed third as a team with 163 points.
WOMEN'S TENNIS - Sophomore Alexandra Taylor (Sydney, Australia) won the Flight B Consolation Singles Bracket at the Idaho State Invitational last weekend as she posted a 4-1 singles record. Tayler also teamed up with freshman Sidnee Lavatai in doubles play and the duo posted a 2-2 record during the weekend.
