Post-Match Quotes
USU head coach Sean McInerney:
On the match:
"I'm pretty proud of the effort. We knew BYU was a very good team coming in. In singles, we played smart and we moved well. We're getting better, definitely, in singles play. Doubles was a pretty big disappointment. I don't think we came out and executed at all, but we'll bounce back. We're definitely becoming a pretty good team. We've got a lot of work to do, but it's going to be a good last month of the season. I was proud of the effort, but upset with the result. We got a little bit better today which was important."
On getting a good crowd turnout on a Thursday:
"It means BYU's in town. Excitement for Aggie tennis on the men's and the women's side is high. We have a great tennis community here in Logan. It's great for the city to have such high level tennis on both sides. Hopefully, we provided them an exciting match and they'll come back."
USU sophomore Hannah Jones:
On the match:
"It was kind of a disappointing loss having BYU at home for the first time. We did a lot of good things, so there's a lot of good things to take away from this match heading into conference play. We're looking pretty good."
On the team's strong singles play:
"Doubles was a rough start, for sure. But in singles, everybody showed a lot of heart. We were right on top of them. It just came down to the last couple points, and it didn't go our way."
