Aggie Men Tabbed Second, Women Fourth in Pre-Championship Cross Country Coaches’ Poll

LOGAN, Utah – Utah State's men's cross country team was picked second and the women were tabbed fourth in the Mountain West Pre-Championship Cross Country Coaches' Polls, which were released Wednesday afternoon by the conference office. 
 
The No. 18 Boise State men claimed the top spot, receiving 61 points, while No. 22 Utah State followed closely with 57 points. The Broncos and Aggies split the nine first-place votes, receiving five and four, respectively. Wyoming came in third with 46.5 points, narrowly followed by Air Force with 46 points. Colorado State garnered 39.5 points for fifth, while New Mexico was sixth with 29 points. San José State (22), Fresno State (12) and Nevada (11) rounded out the poll.  

In the women's poll, it was No. 11 New Mexico claiming the top spot, receiving 96 points and six first-place votes. No. 13 Boise State and No. 14 Air Force were close behind, as the Broncos received 92 points and four first-place votes, and the Falcons received 82 points and one first-place vote. Utah State was tabbed fourth with 71 points, followed by Colorado State (65), Wyoming (51) and San José State (48). Nevada was picked eighth with 41 points and San Diego State ninth with 24 points. UNLV (20) and Fresno State (15) round out the poll in 10th and 11th, respectively. 
 
Both programs have steadily climbed throughout the season, as the Aggie men and women were each tabbed fifth in the Midseason Coaches' Poll, released Sept. 26.

In last week's regular-season finale, Utah State's men's and women's team each captured their fourth team title of the season, sweeping the Utah Open. The Aggie men finished with 18 points to defeat Utah Valley (37 points), while the Aggie women earned 26 points, finishing ahead of Utah Valley (48 points) and Utah (57 points).  

The Aggies continue their 2019 seasons this weekend as they host the Mountain West Championships on Friday, Nov. 1. The men's 8-kilometer race will begin at 10 a.m., followed by the women's 6-kilometer race at 10:45 a.m., at the Steve and Dona Reeder Cross Country Course located at 1165 East 1400 North.
 
The NCAA Mountain Region Championships will be hosted by Utah and will be held in Salt Lake City, Utah, on Friday Nov. 15, eight days before the NCAA Championships in Terre Haute, Ind. on Nov. 23.
