BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Utah State's men's cross country team captured the team title at the Paul Short Run Saturday morning, marking the third-consecutive year the Aggie men have earned the team title at the event.

The 46th annual Paul Short Run was hosted by Lehigh at the Goodman Campus Cross Country Course. It included approximately 6,000 student athletes from 450 colleges or high schools.

In a field of 44 teams including three nationally-ranked programs, the Aggie men won the team title with an enormous margin of victory. USU's 49 points placed them well ahead of second-place Penn, who finished with 144 points. Adams State (184), Stony Brook (200) and Minnesota (223) rounded out the top-five.

"Our men responded well from the meet a couple weeks ago and really dominated today's race. It was an excellent performance," said third-year USU head coach Artie Gulden. "They executed the race plan great. We will now look forward to our upcoming meets and continuing to improve."

Aggie senior Luke Beattie was the top finisher for the USU men, finishing fifth overall in a field of 372 runners with a time of 23:33.9. Seniors Dallin Farnsworth (23:38.6) and Adam Hendrickson (23:39.5) also earned top-10 finishes, placing eighth and ninth, respectively.

After winning the race in 2017 and 2018, Utah State became just the third team in the race's 46-year history to ever win three-consecutive men's team titles.

On the women's side, the Aggies placed 11th overall in a field of 38 teams with a score of 337. Queen's University won the team title, scoring 126 points in the race.

"The women had a similar race to the guys' race a couple weeks ago," Gulden said. "We had a few ladies have off days, but the team ran really tough collectively. We will get back to work and look to improve as we move forward."

For the second-straight competition, it was sophomore Mica Rivera crossing the finish line first for the Aggie women, placing 56th in a field of 277 runners with a time of 20:56.6. Freshman Bailey Brinkerhoff (20:57.1) and Junior Katie Struthers-Haviland (20:59.0) were close behind, placing 58th and 62nd, respectively.

Utah State's season continues next week as the Aggies return home to host the Steve T. Reeder Memorial on Friday, Oct. 11. The women's 5-kilometer run will begin at 3 p.m., while the men's 7-kilometer run will get underway at 3:45 p.m. at the Steve and Dona Reeder Cross Country Course located at 1165 East 1400 North.
