Box Score LONG BEACH, Calif. - Utah State women's basketball (2-2) recorded a 56-48 victory over Long Beach State (1-3) on Monday night inside The Walter Pyramid in Long Beach, Calif.
Senior forward Hailey Bassett led the Aggies with her fourth career double-double and first of the season with 17 points and 11 rebounds. Senior guard Lindsey Jensen-Baker and sophomore guard Steph Gorman also scored in double figures with 14 and 13 points, respectively.
The Aggies outrebounded the Beach, 44-33. Senior forward Marlene Aniambossou posted a career-high-tying nine rebounds, while Jensen-Baker had a career high of six.
The game stayed close for the first half and the opening of the third quarter. However, the Aggies closed out the third quarter with a 14-1 run to take a 44-36 lead heading into the fourth.
Long Beach State was led by senior forward Cydnee Kinslow with 13 points and 12 rebounds.
Utah State shot 34.6 percent (18-of-52) from the field, 23.5 percent (4-of-17) from behind the 3-point line and 64.0 percent (16-of-25) at the free throw line. Long Beach State shot 30.8 percent (16-of-52) from the floor, 30.0 percent (6-of-20) from behind the 3-point and 62.5 percent (10-of-16) at the free throw line.
Utah State wraps up its California trip as the Aggies take on Cal State Fullerton (2-2) on Wednesday, Nov. 20, at 8 p.m. (MT), inside the Titan Gym in Fullerton, Calif.
