FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – Utah State women's tennis (2-4, 0-0 MW) ended Northern Arizona's 23 home-match winning streak with a 4-2 win on Sunday afternoon at the Aquatic & Tennis Complex.

"This victory was a long time coming and I'm proud of this win," said head coach Sean McInerney. "NAU won 23 straight matches at home, so that says something about the quality of this win. We have had some really tough losses at the beginning of the season, but today showed what this team is capable of. Now, we have to move forward with this win and become the team we are supposed to be. I am very proud of them."

The Aggies had to make a comeback from the doubles point as junior Hannah Jones and sophomore Alexandra Taylor lost, 6-3, at the first position to NAU junior Chiara Tomasetti and freshman Adrianna Sosnowska. USU won on the remaining two courts to secure the doubles point by 7-5 scores as freshman Annaliese County and junior Lucy Octave beat sophomore Ellie Millard and senior Hanneke Lodewijks at the second position, while sophomore Alexandra Pisareva and freshman Sidnee Lavatai defeated freshman Emilie Haakansson and sophomore Madi Moore at the third position.

In singles play, USU freshman Gabrielle Dekkers won her match via forfeit at the No. 6 spot to make it a 2-0 Aggies. NAU would, however, tie the match as Jones lost to No. 106 ranked Tomasetti, 6-0, 6-2 at the No. 1 spot and Taylor fell to Haakansson, 6-0, 6-4, at the No. 4 spot. With the match all tied up, the Aggies would get the victory on courts five and three to record the win as Tanui beat Moore, 6-1, 6-3 on court five, and Octave would seal the win with a 6-3, 6-3 straight set of her own against Sosnowska on court three.

Utah State will return home for a pair of matches as they will face Grand Canyon on Friday, Feb. 15, at 11 a.m., and Idaho on Monday, Feb. 18, at 11 a.m.
