LOGAN, Utah - Utah State women's tennis (2-4) returns to Logan and hosts Grand Canyon (2-4) on Friday, Feb. 15, at 11 a.m., at the Sports Academy & Racquet Club.
Utah State is led in singles by junior Lucy Octave, who is 4-1 on the season, most notably sealing the victory at Northern Arizona last week with a straight-set win (6-3, 6-3) at No. 3 singles. Freshman Sidnee Lavatai is 3-1 and junior Rhoda Tanui is 2-2. In doubles, junior Hannah Jones and sophomore Alexandra Taylor are 3-1, Octave and freshman Annaliese County are 3-1, and Tanui and County are 1-1.
Utah State and Grand Canyon have split the series at 3-3 as the Aggies have won the last three matches. The last meeting between USU and GCU was Feb. 17, 2018 in Phoenix, as the Aggies edged out a 4-3 win.
The Lopes are 2-4, most notably falling to Colorado State, 6-1, in Phoenix. In singles play, junior Emilia Occhipinti is 4-2, while junior Celia Morel is 3-3. The trio of junior Celina Buhr, and sophomores Martina Lo Pumo and Autum Prudhomme are all 2-4, while and sophomore Ludovica Infantino is 0-6. In doubles, Buhr and Occhipinti are 3-2, Morel and Lo Pumo are 1-4 and Morel and Prudhomme 1-0.
