LOGAN, Utah – Utah State women's tennis (11-10, 2-3 MW) ended its regular season winning seven of its last 10 matches as they captured a 6-1 home victory against Boise State (7-11, 0-5 MW) on Saturday afternoon at the USU Outdoor Tennis Courts.

"Any time you beat Boise State, it's a big win for us and it's a great rivalry," said head coach Sean McInerney. "We got them on a good day and we played very well. They are a great program and they're capable of playing a little bit better, but we'll take the win any day."

The Aggies earned the doubles point as they recorded a 6-1 win at the No. 3 spot from junior Lucy Octave and freshman Annaliese County, while the Broncos captured the 6-4 win at the second spot. The top spot went to a decisive tiebreaker, as sophomore Alexandra Pisareva and freshman Sidnee Lavatai edged out a 7-6 (5) victory.

In singles play, Octave got things rolling with a 6-2, 6-1 straight-set win at the No. 4 spot, while freshman Gabrielle Dekkers earned a 6-4, 6-2 win at the No. 5 spot, making it 3-0 Aggies. County clinched her fourth match of the season with a 6-3, 6-4 win at the No 3 spot.

With all other matches completed, both teams agreed to play on. Pisareva won at the No. 1 spot with a pair of 6-2 victories, while Lavatai beat her opponent at the No. 6 spot, 6-4, 6-3.

"Our singles lineup is starting to play very well," McInerney said. "We're starting to understand our point structure and we're working really hard. The momentum is really good and we're starting to show the level we can play at and we're excited to get to San Diego for the conference tournament."

"It was a very good conference win for us and we played together as a team," Pisareva said. "In the beginning of the season, we didn't play as well as we would've like to, but we're playing all together."

Utah State next travels to San Diego, Calif., to participate in the Mountain West Championships from April 25 through 28. Match times and opponents will be announced at the conclusion of Mountain West regular season play.
