LOGAN, Utah – Utah State head women's tennis coach Sean McInerney has announced the additions of Lillian Okamoto (Davis, Calif.) and Renata Lombera (Mexico City, Mexico) for the 2019-20 season.

Okamoto, a two-time Delta League player of the year out of Davis High School, played at the No. 1 spot and was a Sac-Joaquin section finalist, a Delta League Champion as a sophomore in 2016, compiling a 15-2 record as well as a 13-4 mark in 2017. Her Blue Devils were Delta League runners-up three-straight years and made the Sac-Joaquin section semifinals in 2017 and 2018.

"We are excited for Lillian's future as an Aggie," McInerney said. "She plays with great tenacity and she has a huge desire to improve and be apart of our program. She is going to develop so much as a player over the next four years and we are so excited to be a part of that."

"I chose Utah State because I fell in love with everything the school has to offer both athletically and academically," Okamoto said.

Lombera has been ranked as high as No. 2 in Mexico, as well as being the No. 2 seed representing Mexico in the Junior Fed Cup regionals. The Mexico City, Mexico native has also won five ITF doubles titles.

"Renata is a tremendous addition to our program," McInerney said. "She has an unwavering desire to improve and learn. She will immediately impact our program with her positive attitude and hunger to reach the championship level. Renata is the perfect fit for our program and I'm so excited to be apart of fulfilling her potential as an elite tennis player."

"I always knew I wanted to play for a great school, that had a great coach, a great team and a great academic ranking," Lombera said. "I knew when I had the opportunity to come to USU, it had everything I was looking for. When I met Sean, he made me feel that the mindset that he had was the same; hard work, determination and discipline. Utah State was everything and more of what I was looking for and I can't wait to spend the next four years in my dream school playing for the Aggies."
