BOISE, Idaho—Utah State women's tennis finished day two at the Barb Chandler Classic on a high note on Saturday. The Aggies ended the day with three of the four pairs advancing to the finals tomorrow.
"We are doing a great job competing every point and our structure in singles had been solid," head women's tennis coach
Sean McInerney said. "Doubles is a work in progress, but we will get better at that."
Senior
Hannah Jones and sophomore
Sidnee Lavatai defeated Weber State's team of Yuuna Ukita and Megan Lombardi in the semifinals 3-0, which gives them a spot in the championship tomorrow.
Lucy Octave and
Carolina Millan went 2-1 in their matches, both capturing the singles points, but falling short in doubles against Boise State's Wiktoria Nosek and Baptista. Octave and Millan will also be competing in the championship against their own teammates, Jones and Lavatai, tomorrow morning.
Utah State's
Gabrielle Dekkers and
Zara Ryan defeated Idaho State's duo of Madison Fenske and Melissa Coburn, 3-0. Dekkers and Ryan will also be representing the Aggies in the championship game tomorrow against Weber State's Cali Fuller and Morett.
"We are looking forward to finishing strong tomorrow," McInerney said. "We're hoping to take home a few championships."
