LOGAN, Utah – Utah State's track & field teams are slated to travel to Fargo, N.D., for the Second Annual Bison Team Cup on Saturday, Jan. 18. The one-day event will feature USU, Northern Iowa, South Dakota and the host school, North Dakota State.
Action is slated to begin at 10 a.m. (MT), at the Shelly Ellig Indoor Track and Field Facility with the men's and women's weight throws, and men's and women's shot put. The day concludes at 3:10 p.m. (MT), with the women's and men's 4x400-meter relay.
Utah State's indoor track & field teams won four event titles and collected 16 top-three finishes last weekend in their indoor season opener at the BYU Invitational. All four individual titles came on the men's side, highlighted by the performance of junior
Josh Barclay, who won the shot put title with a career-best mark of 18.51 meters (60-08.75), a throw which ranks second all-time in school history.
Senior
Kyle Morris won the weight throw with a mark of 16.14 meters (52-11.50), while fellow senior
Oran Wasserman finished second in the event with a mark of 15.65 meters (51-04.25). In the discus, an exhibition event, junior
Christian Sonnenberg finished first with a mark of 48.36 meters (158-08). Freshman
Heston Anderson gave the Aggies their final event title as he finished first in the mile with a personal-best time of 4:22.68.
Highlighting the Aggie women was sophomore
Audrey Garrett, who captured second place in the high jump with a personal-best mark of 1.76 meters (5-09.25), which ranks fifth all-time in school history. During the three days of competition, a total of 25 Utah State student-athletes either set or tied personal-best marks 26 times. The Aggies had nine top-three finishes on the women's side and seven more on the men's side.
