LOGAN, Utah – Utah State's men's and women's cross country programs were honored by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) for their performance both on the course and in the classroom during the 2019 season.
Overall, there were 237 women's teams and 191 men's teams that earned all-academic distinction from the USTFCCCA for their efforts both academically and athletically. Both the USU men's team (3.34) and the women's team (3.57) were recognized for notching a cumulative GPA of at least 3.00 or higher.

James Withers earned USTFCCCA All-Academic accolades for maintaining a cumulative GPA of at least 3.25 and finishing in the top 25 (or 10 percent) at the NCAA Regional Championships.
Joe Klecker of Colorado was named the Men's Scholar Athlete of the Year. The senior with a 3.66 GPA in biochemistry finished runner-up at the 2019 NCAA Division I Cross Country Championships in Terre Haute, Ind., this past November.
Alicia Monson of Wisconsin was named the Women's Scholar Athlete of the Year. The senior with a 3.25 GPA in nutritional sciences placed secondly individually at the NCAA Championships.
Overall, there were 166 women and 117 men who garnered USTFCCCA All-Academic individual accolades.
Arkansas was named the Women's Scholar Team of the Year. The Razorbacks, who maintained a cumulative GPA of 3.59 won their first cross country title in program history this past November at the 2019 NCAA Division I Cross Country Championships in Terre Haute, Ind.
BYU was named the Men's Scholar Team of the Year for the second year in a row, a feat that hadn't been done since Iowa went back-to-back-to-back from 2006-08. The Cougars won their first national title in program history in November.
