SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Utah State women's tennis (3-3) played its first road match of the season, falling to in-state rival Utah, 4-1. 

Starting off in doubles play, senior Hannah Jones and sophomore Sidnee Lavatai took on 16th-ranked Madison Tattini and Whitney Hekking, falling 6-1. Senior Lucy Octave and sophomore Gabrielle Dekkers also dropped a 6-1 decision to Madeline Lamoreaux and Emily Dush. Freshman duo Renata Lombera and Carolina Millan were down, 4-3, when their match was left unfinished. 

Jones took the sole win for the Aggies in singles play, defeating Lamoreaux, 6-2, 6-4, in the No. 2 position. The matches on courts one, three and four were all decided in straight sets, while the matches in the Nos. 5 and 6 spots were left unfinished. 

Utah State has a break in its schedule now, before opening Mountain West play on the road. The Aggies are set to play at Nevada on Saturday, March 14, at 11 a.m. (MT). USU then returns home to host Montana on Monday, March 16. The match will be played at the Sports Academy and Racquet Club, starting at 11 a.m.
