Utah State Track & Field Opens Competition at MW Indoor Championships

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – 
Utah State junior Aspen Drecksel placed 11th in the heptathlon with a personal-best 3,243 points as Utah State's track & field teams opened competition at the Mountain West Indoor Championships on Thursday at the Albuquerque Convention Center.

Drecksel also had personal bests in the 60-meter hurdles (9.38 seconds), high jump (1.43 meters/4-08.25), long jump (5.35 meters/17-06.75) and 800 meters (2:28.04).

Utah State's women's DMR team comprised of freshman Ali Bybee, senior Jensen Mosman, junior Karen Christensen and senior Josie Givens placed ninth with a time of 12:04.26.

On the men's side, the Aggies' DMR team – sophomore Devin Pancake, freshmen Nathan Kaufusi and Josh Wintch, and senior J.D. Thorne – finished ninth with a time of 10:06.27.

The second day of the MW Indoor Championships begins on Friday, at 10 a.m., with the conclusion of the men's heptathlon. Field events get underway at 12:30 p.m., with the men's weight throw, while track events commence at 1:30 p.m., with the women's mile.
