RIVERSIDE, Calif. - Utah State women's tennis (4-3) recorded a 4-0 sweep over UC Riverside (3-6) in a road match in Riverside, Calif., on Wednesday.

Utah State dropped just one game in each of its sets at the top two spots in doubles play as seniors Lucy Octave and Hannah Jones defeated UC Riverside junior Tia Elpusan and senior Sara Khattab, 6-1, at the No. 1 spot. Freshmen Carolina Millan and Renata Lombera also recorded a 6-1 victory as they defeated sophomores Mahli Silpachai and Hanh Pham at the No. 2 spot. Sophomores Sidnee Lavatai and Gabrielle Dekkers were leading, 5-2, at the No. 3 spot, but the match was left unfinished with the doubles point clinched for Utah State.

Dekkers recorded the first win for the Aggies in singles action, dropping just one game for a 6-1, 6-0 victory at the No. 4 spot over Pham. Freshman Zara Ryan then took a 7-5, 6-3 win over UCR sophomore Lindsey Gelinas at the No. 3 position. Octave clinched the USU victory with a 6-1, 7-5 win at the top spot over Silpachai.

Utah State will next host Montana on Sunday, March 15, at 11 a.m. inside the Sports Academy & Racquet Club.
