SALT LAKE CITY, Utah --- Utah State women's tennis continued play at the Utah Invitational on Saturday, playing against doubles teams from New Mexico and singles opponents from Utah.
In doubles play, juniors
Carolina Millan and
Zeynep Naz Ozturk notched their second victory of the tournament, defeating New Mexico's Polly Chen and Myu Kageyama, 8-5. Seniors
Gabrielle Dekkers and
Annaliese County got on the board in doubles play as well, defeating UNM's Albie Huang and Satoho Toriumi, 8-3. Sophomore Lisa Kung and freshman
Brooke Demerath took their opponent to a tiebreak, but were unable to seal the victory in an 8-7 (2) loss to UNM's Hsuan Huang and Sarah O'Connor.
In singles play, County tallied USU's only victory of the day versus the Utes, taking out Anya Lamoreaux (6-2, 6-4) for her second singles win at the Utah Invitational. Kung, Dekkers, Demerath, Naz Ozturk, and Millan all fell in straight sets to their Ute opponents.
Singles and doubles play is scheduled to conclude on Sunday. The Aggies are set to play three more doubles teams from Utah, along with six singles opponents from Weber State.
