LOGAN, Utah – Utah State men's and women's cross country teams are both ranked No. 6 in Week 6 of the NCAA DI Cross Country regional rankings, which were released Monday by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).
There was one change to the order of the top-5 men's teams in the Mountain Region. Northern Arizona and Colorado remained at No. 1 and No. 2, respectively, followed by No. 3 BYU and No. 4 Air Force, but Southern Utah jumped three spots from No. 8 to No. 5. The Lumberjacks rolled to the team title at the Big Sky Championships with the Thunderbirds finishing in second. The Buffaloes won the Pac-12 title and the Falcons claimed the Mountain West crown.
There were big changes to the order of the top-five women's teams in the Mountain Region. BYU jumped two spots into the No. 1 position and dropped New Mexico and Colorado to the Nos. 2 and 3 spots, respectively. Utah held steady at No. 4, while No. 5 Northern Arizona returned to the top five.
The Cougars won the team title at the West Coast Conference Championships, while the Lobos won the Mountain West with a perfect score of 15 points. The Buffaloes and Utes went 1-2 at the Pac-12 Championships, and the Lumberjacks took home top honors at the Big Sky Championships.

Katie Haviland placed 10th overall to help lead the 28th-ranked Aggie women to their best-ever finish at the MW Championships last Friday in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
Utah State, which climbed one spot to No. 6 in the this week's regional rankings, finished with a team score of 73 points on the UNM North Golf Course to place second ahead of No. 12 Colorado State, which took third with 75 points. New Mexico, the top-ranked team in the nation, captured its 14th-consecutive Mountain West title.
Prior to Friday, Utah State's best-ever finish on the women's side at the Mountain West Cross Country Championships was in 2017, when the Aggies took third en route to their first-ever appearance at the NCAA Championships.
In the men's 8K race, No. 21 Utah State placed third with 79 points, just ahead of No. 19 Colorado State, which was fourth with 80 points. No. 11 Air Force defended its title from last year in dominant fashion as all five of its scoring runners were among the top nine to finish with 27 points. No. 23 Boise State took second with 64 points.
The Aggies return to action on Friday, Nov. 12, at the NCAA Mountain Regional Championships at Timpanogos Golf Club in Provo, Utah. The NCAA Championships will take place eight days later on Saturday, Nov. 20, at Apalachee Regional Park in Tallahassee, Florida.
