NOTES – USU Men’s Basketball Closes Non-Conference Slate Against Portland State

LOGAN, Utah - Utah State closes out its 2021-22 non-conference slate on Tuesday night, hosting Portland State (3-6) at 7 o'clock, inside the Dee Glen Smith Spectrum.

Opening Tips
• Utah State leads the all-time series against the Vikings, 3-2, however Portland State has won each of the last two contests. USU is a perfect 2-0 against PSU at home.

• Utah State is shooting 48.6 percent (342-of-703) from the floor this year, the best mark since the Aggies shot 48.8 percent (941-of-1,928) during the 2009-10 season. USU has shot 50 percent or better from the floor in six games this season.

• Utah State's 79.4 points per game is the most since the Aggies averaged 81.3 points per game during the 1990-91 campaign.

• Utah State has scored 80 or more points in seven of its 12 games this season and is averaging 80.8 points per game over the last four-game stretch. USU is a perfect 7-0 when scoring 80 or more points in a game.

• Utah State is 8-1 on the year when three or more players score in double figures.

• Utah State leads the nation in total assists this year with 240 and is third in the nation with 20.0 assists per game. The Aggies have recorded 20 or more assists in six games this season.

• USU senior forward Justin Bean is the only player in the MW averaging a double-double this season (19.2/10.3) and leads the league in rebounding (10.3), double-doubles (7), offensive rebounds (3.25), defensive rebounds (7.08) and field goal percentage (.647).

Bean is fourth in the nation in double-doubles (7) and ranks among the nation's best in rebounds per game (12th), defensive rebounds per game (16th), field goal percentage (6th) and offensive rebounds per game (25th).

Bean has been locked in from the floor this season as his 64.7-percent field goal shooting is sixth in a single season in school history, while his 48.0-percent clip from behind the 3-point line is fourth in a single season.

• Junior guard Rylan Jones is 17th in the nation with 5.9 assists per game, the most by an Aggie since Kris Clark averaged 6.4 during the 2007-08 season.

• Although not in the starting lineup, sophomore guard Steven Ashworth is averaging the fifth-most minutes per game on the team with 23.1 per contest.

• Senior guard Brock Miller, sophomore guard Steven Ashworth and graduate forward Brandon Horvath make up the only trio in the MW this season with 20 or more triples with 25, 24 and 22, respectively.

• Sophomore center Szymon Zapala is a perfect 7-of-7 from the floor this season.
