Justin Bean Named America First Credit Union USU Student-Athlete of the Week

Bean recorded his league-leading eighth double-double last week

LOGAN, Utah - Utah State senior forward Justin Bean has been named the America First Credit Union USU Student-Athlete of the Week, for the week ending Sunday, Dec. 26. The award is voted on by a state-wide media panel.

With their sponsorship of the Student-Athlete of the Week, America First Credit Union donates funds directly to support student-athlete scholarships.

Bean recorded his Mountain West-leading eighth double-double of the season with 29 points and 12 rebounds in Utah State's 81-62 victory over Portland State on Dec. 21. Bean played in 33 minutes and logged a career-high five 3-point baskets, shooting a perfect 5-for-5 from behind the arc. Overall, Bean shot 73.3 percent (11-of-15) from the floor and 66.7 percent (2-of-3) from the free throw line and finished the game with one steal.

Utah State opens MW play this week, traveling to Air Force to face the Falcons on Wednesday, Dec. 29, at 1 p.m. Fans can watch the game via the MW Network, streaming online at www.utahstateaggies.com/watch.

WOMEN'S BASKETBALL
– Senior guard Kaylin Randhawa (Turlock, California) registered a team-best 20 points in Utah State's 103-80 loss at Montana. Against the Lady Griz, Randhawa shot 43.8 percent (7-of-16) from the floor, 42.9 percent (3-of-7) from behind the arc and 100.0 percent (3-of-3) at the free throw line. Randhawa has now scored in double figures in eight of USU's 10 games, including three 20-point games. Randhawa also posted two rebounds and an assist against the Grizzlies.
