DENVER, Colo. – Utah State women's tennis opened a two-match weekend Saturday, falling to Denver, 6-1.
The Pioneers took the early lead, winning the doubles point. The Aggies picked up one win, as the No. 1 duo of sophomore
Renata Lombera and junior
Gabrielle Dekkers defeated the No. 36-ranked team of Hada Chang and Taylor Melville, 6-4.
In singles play, USU sophomore
Carolina Millan maintained her perfect record on the year in the No. 1 position. After dropping the first set, she fought back to earn a win over No. 117 Melville (4-6, 7-6 (4), 1-0 (7)). Dekkers fought to a tiebreak in her first set in the No. 4 spot, but the five other singles matches all ended in straight-set victories for the Pioneers.
The Aggies return to action on Sunday, Feb. 7, when they play at Colorado in an 11 a.m. match.
