LOGAN, Utah – Utah State gymnast
Autumn DeHarde has been named the America First Credit Union USU Student-Athlete of the Week for the period ending on Sunday, Feb. 7. The award is voted on by a state-wide media panel.
With their sponsorship of the Student-Athlete of the Week, America First Credit Union donates funds directly to support student-athlete scholarships.
DeHarde (Sussex, Wis.) captured the beam crown with a season-high-tying 9.925 to help No. 22 Utah State record its fourth-highest road score in school history in a 196.350-196.250 Mountain Rim Gymnastics Conference road loss at No. 23 Boise State last weekend. The senior also placed second on floor with a 9.875 against the Broncos, helping the Aggies record a season-high 49.100 on the event.
DeHarde has now captured a pair of beam titles this season and 14 in her career, extending her own school record. Her 23 career titles rank 13th all-time in school history and is just three shy of cracking the top 10.
Utah State returns home to face Boise State in another MRGC dual meet on Saturday, Feb. 13, at 7 p.m., at the Dee Glen Smith Spectrum.

MEN'S BASKETBALL – Junior center Neemias Queta (Barreiro, Portugal) led Utah State to a 1-0 Mountain West road record last week with a 69-53 win at Fresno State. Against the Bulldogs, Queta had game highs of 14 points, five rebounds and five blocks, while adding one assist in 21 minutes. Overall, Queta shot 55.6 percent (5-of-9) from the floor and 80.0 percent (4-of-5) at the free throw line.
WOMEN'S BASKETBALL – Graduate forward Jessica Chatman (Ridgefield, Wash.) was Utah State's top scorer in a pair of Mountain West home losses to Fresno State last week by scores of 90-62 and 93-85. In the first game of the series, Chatman scored 13 points, to go along with a team-leading 11 rebounds, for her third double-double of the season. In the second game, she scored a career-high 26 points, the second-most by an Aggie this season, in what was the second 20-point game of her career, to go along with two rebounds, one assist and one steal. For the week, Chatman averaged 19.5 points, 6.5 rebounds, 0.5 assists and 0.5 steals per game, while shooting 51.6 percent (16-of-31) from the floor and 77.8 percent (7-of-9) at the free throw line.
MEN'S CROSS COUNTRY – Freshman Camren Todd (Kaysville, Utah) was the top Aggie finisher for the second-consecutive meet as he placed 11th with a time of 23:49.2 last weekend at the Florida State Winter Classic in Tallahassee, Fla. Todd helped lead Utah State to a fourth-place finish out of 20 teams. USU beat three ranked teams in No. 19 Wake Forest, No. 22 Southern Utah and No. 30 Syracuse, which finished fifth, ninth and eighth, respectively.
WOMEN'S CROSS COUNTRY – Senior Katie Haviland (Lehi, Utah) was the top Utah State finisher as she placed 19th with a time of 20:43.5 last weekend at the Florida State Winter Classic in Tallahassee, Fla. Haviland and the Aggies placed ninth out of 18 teams with 235 points. Utah State beat one ranked team in No. 29 Boston College, which placed 11th with 279 points.
MEN'S TENNIS – Sophomore Javier Ruiz (Lausanne, Switzerland) helped Utah State to a 1-1 road record last week with a 4-3 loss at Gonzaga and a 6-1 win at Eastern Washington. Ruiz went 2-0 in singles play, winning both contest in straight sets, as he played at the No. 5 spot against Gonzaga (6-2, 7-5) and the No. 4 spot against Eastern Washington (6-1, 6-1). In doubles, Ruiz posted a 1-1 record at the No. 1 position. Playing with fifth-year Sergiu Bucur against the Bulldogs, the duo dropped a tight match, 7-5. Paired with senior Felipe Acosta, the two swept their Eagles opponents, 6-0.
WOMEN'S TENNIS – Sophomore Carolina Millan (Pachuca, Hidalgo, Mexico) led Utah State as the Aggies posted an 0-2 road record last week with a 6-1 loss at Denver and a 7-0 loss at Colorado. Millan posted the only singles win of the weekend for USU, as she defeated Denver's No. 117 Taylor Melville in three sets (4-6, 7-6, 1-0). She also played No. 1 singles against Colorado, falling 6-0, 6-1. Millan played with freshman Lillian Okamoto at No. 3 doubles in both matches, as the duo fell to the Pioneers, 6-1, and to the Buffaloes, 6-0.
VOLLEYBALL – Junior outside hitter Kristy Frank (Kiev, Ukraine) led Utah State as the Aggies posted an 0-2 Mountain West home record last week with a 3-2 and 3-0 loss to Wyoming. Frank made her USU debut with 17 kills in the first match against the Cowgirls, hitting .267 (17-5-45). She also added eight digs, two block assists and two service aces in the contest. In the second match, Frank again led all players with nine kills, hitting .364 (9-1-22). She added nine digs, two block assists and one assist in the loss. For the week, Frank hit .299 (26-6-67) and had 17 digs, to go along with four block assists and two service aces.
