LAS VEGAS, Nev. – Utah State senior
Michala Zilkey placed third in the women's hammer with a personal-best mark of 58.47 meters (191-10), which ranks eighth all-time in school history, as the Aggies officially kicked off their 2021 outdoor track & field season on Friday at the UNLV Spring Invitational & Sheila Tarr-Smith Multis.
The three-day meet, which began Thursday and runs through Saturday, is being held at Myron Partridge Stadium. The first two days of the meet primarily consisted of the men's decathlon and women's heptathlon, which the Aggies did not have any athletes entered in, and the hammer throw.
Fellow senior
Maia Garren placed 12th in the hammer with a mark of 50.09m (164-4), while junior finished in 18th place with a heave of 46.11m (151-3).
In the men's hammer throw, led the Aggie men by placing sixth with a throw of 49.55m (162-6). Redshirt freshman
Patrick Thompson officially made his Utah State debut with an eighth-place finish in the event (45.93m/150-8).
Saturday's schedule features 11 track and seven field events, with the women's 5,000 meters kicking off the day's action at 9:15 a.m. (MT), while the men's 4x400-meter relay ends the invite at 4:30 p.m.
