LOGAN, Utah – Utah State women's tennis (7-12, 2-7 MW) opened its final weekend of competition Saturday, dropping a 4-3 decision to Colorado State.
The Rams took the lead early on, winning the doubles point with wins at Nos. 1 (6-1) and 2 (6-2). The Aggie duo of juniors
Annaliese County and
Gabrielle Dekkers were ahead in their match, 5-4, when it was left unfinished.
Utah State tied the score with the first win of singles play, as County defeated Tracy Guo (6-2, 6-4) in the No. 3 spot. The Aggies were then able to take the lead as sophomore
Renata Lombera posted a straight-set win (6-4, 6-2) over Emily Luetschwager at the No. 2 spot. CSU responded with wins at the Nos. 5 and 6 spot, before Dekkers posted a win (6-3, 6-4) over Lou Regen. Coming down to the final match and pushing to extra points in the third set, the Rams clinched the win at No. 1.
Utah State will wrap-up the 2021 season on Sunday, April 25, when it hosts Wyoming at 1 p.m.
