LOGAN, Utah – Utah State women's tennis (6-9, 1-4 MW) opened its weekend of home competition in a 4-1 loss to Boise State Friday. 

The Broncos jumped out to an early lead, winning the doubles point with victories in the Nos. 1 and 2 spots. At No. 3, juniors Annaliese County and Gabrielle Dekkers were tied at 4-4 when their match was suspended. 

The Aggies and Broncos split the first sets of every singles match. County picked up the only point of the day for USU with a straight-set win (6-3, 6-4) at No. 4. Boise State added to its lead with a straight-set win at No. 3, but the remaining matches all went to three sets. The battles continued on the final four courts, but the Broncos clinched it with a win at the No. 1 spot. Dekkers was down 5-6 in her final set, while sophomore Zara Ryan was tied at 5-5 in the third set of her match in the No. 2 position when the two matches were called. 

Utah State continues its weekend on Sunday, April 11, when it hosts San José State at 10 a.m.
