LOGAN, Utah – Utah State head men's tennis coach Aaron Paajanen has announced the signing of Gabriel Chavez, who will join the team this fall. 

A native of Valencia, Calif., Chavez is set to graduate from the California Connections Academy this spring. According to Tennis Recruiting Network, Chavez is a four-star recruit. He is currently ranked 31st in the United States Tennis Association sectional rankings and is No. 225 nationally. 

"Gabriel had been at the top of our list of players we wanted to join us in Logan for awhile now, so we are really excited that he will be a part of our team staring this fall," Paajanen said. "Despite not having the opportunity to meet face-to-face with Gabriel or his parents, we really got to know each other and built a good relationship during the recruiting process. I can't wait to see Gabriel wearing Utah State gear this upcoming season."
