LOGAN, Utah – Utah State head gymnastics coach
Amy Smith has announced the addition of Abby Milliet (pronounced Mill-ay) as a volunteer assistant coach with the program.
"I am incredibly honored and excited to work alongside such a great staff and become part of the Aggie family," Milliet said. "I'm looking forward to getting back into collegiate gymnastics to share the things I have learned and help make us a better team every day. I really fell in love with the performance piece of college gymnastics, so I am excited to help cultivate that in the astounding talent at Utah State."
Milliet will assist Utah State associate head coach
Erik Lewis on floor, assist Smith with choreography and work on performance quality of routines, among other day-to-day operations with the program.
"We are thrilled to announce the addition of Abby to our coaching staff," Smith said. "Abby was a standout gymnast at Auburn, as well as a Senior International Elite at Denton Gymnastics Academy in Texas. She will bring a high standard of execution and polish, as well as the great insight of being a student-athlete at a powerhouse SEC school such as Auburn."
Milliet arrives in Logan after working as one of the head optional coaches and choreographers for the girls program at Achievers Gymnastics Center in her hometown of Denton, Texas.
The daughter of John and Christy Milliet graduated from Auburn in 2019 with a degree in marketing. During her time with the Tigers, Milliet made the SEC Academic Honor Roll on two occasions, was a 2018 WCGA Scholastic All-American and was named to the all-SEC Team and Freshman all-SEC Team in 2015.
In Milliet's final season at Auburn, the Tigers finished 2019 ranked 16th in the nation as the squad narrowly missed a share of the regular season SEC title, finishing with a 5-2 record in the league for sole possession of second place – the highest regular season finish in program history.
