• Utah State men's basketball (10-9, 1-5 MW) continues its 2021-22 season this week with a home contest against San Diego State (10-4, 2-1 MW) on Wednesday, Jan. 26, at 8:30 p.m., followed by a road game at Nevada (9-7, 3-2 MW) on Saturday, Jan. 29, at 8 p.m. (MT). USU is 8-14 all-time against the Aztecs, including a 4-4 mark at home, and 39-23 all-time against the Wolf Pack, including a 13-17 mark on the road. Fans can watch the game against SDSU on FS1 (Xfinity, Ch. 265, DISH Ch. 150, DirecTV Ch. 219) and the game against Nevada on the CBS Sports Network (Xfinity Ch. 269/753HD, DISH Ch. 158, DirecTV Ch. 221).

• Utah State lost each of its Mountain West contests last week with a 61-54 loss at Fresno State and a 62-59 loss at home against Boise State. Against FSU, junior guard Sean Bairstow and senior forward Justin Bean each scored in double figures, finishing with 12 and 10 points, respectively. USU shot 46.8 percent (22-of-47) from the floor, 16.7 percent (2-of-12) from behind the 3-point line and 61.5 percent (8-of-13) at the free throw line, while the Bulldogs shot 39.1 percent (18-of-46) from the floor, 35.0 percent (7-of-20) from behind the 3-point line and 90.0 percent (18-of-20) at the free throw line. Against the Broncos, Bean logged a double-double with 14 points and 12 rebounds and was joined in double figures by senior guard RJ Eytle-Rock with 14 points. USU shot 38.5 percent (20-of-52) from the floor, 22.2 percent (4-of-18) from behind the 3-point line and 75.0 percent (15-of-20) at the free throw line. BSU finished the game shooting 40.0 percent (26-of-65) from the floor, 25.0 percent (5-of-20) from behind the arc and 33.3 percent (5-of-15) at the free throw line.

• Utah State women's basketball (6-12, 1-7 MW) travels to California this week to take on San José State (3-14, 0-6 MW) on Thursday, Jan. 27, at 7 p.m. (MT), followed by Fresno State (7-10, 3-3 MW) on Saturday, Jan. 29, at 3 p.m. (MT). All-time, the Aggies are 18-14 against the Spartans and 4-27 against the Bulldogs. Fans can watch every game via the Mountain West Network, streaming online at www.utahstateaggies.com/watch.

• Utah State earned its first Mountain West victory of the season with a 76-66 home victory over defending Mountain West champions Wyoming, following an 88-72 home loss to Colorado State. Against the Rams, junior guard/forward Adryana Quezada led the Aggies with a season-high 30 points, which is tied for 37th on the USU single-game record list. Senior guard Emmie Harris dished out a career-high 12 assists to tie for third in program history, while senior guard/forward E'Lease Stafford registered her second double-double of the season with 13 points and 10 rebounds, and graduate forward Laci Hawthorne also finished the night with 13 points. USU shot 39.7 percent (27-of-68) from the field, 15.8 percent (3-of-19) from behind the arc and 83.3 percent (15-of-18) at the free throw line. CSU shot 50.7 percent (34-of-67) from the floor, 45.2 percent (14-of-31) from behind the 3-point line and 54.5 percent (6-of-11) at the charity stripe. Against the Cowgirls, Quezada registered her fifth double-double of the season with 17 points and a season-high 15 rebounds. Senior guard Kaylin Randhawa led the team with a game-high 20 points and Stafford also finished in double figures with a season-high 16 points, to go along with a career-high four blocks. Harris, who appeared in her 127th career game as an Aggie to set the program record, handed out eight helpers as the Aggies registered 20 assists on 25 made field goals. USU finished the day shooting 42.4 percent (25-of-59) from the field, 54.2 percent (13-of-24) from behind the arc and a perfect 100.0 percent (13-of-13) at the free throw line. UW shot 35.8 percent (24-of-67) from the floor, 19.2 percent (5-of-26) from behind the 3-point line and 86.7 percent (13-of-15) at the charity stripe.

• Utah State gymnastics (5-2, 2-0 Mountain Rim Gymnastics Conference) continues its 2022 season this week when the 22nd-ranked Aggies travel to Provo, Utah, for an MRGC dual meet against No. 20 BYU (2-3, 1-2) on Friday, Jan. 28, at 7 p.m., at the Smith Fieldhouse.

• Behind another stellar performance on floor from freshman Brie Clark, No. 22 Utah State recorded a season-high 196.350 to place second in the Arizona quad meet last weekend. No. 4 Oklahoma placed first with a 197.900, while No. 13 Stanford took third with a 195.725 and No. 20 Arizona finished fourth with a 193.775. The 196.350 by the Aggies is tied for the 10th-best score in school history, including the sixth-best score on the road. USU opened the meet on floor, recording a 48.900, highlighted by Clark's 9.925 to tie for first. In the second rotation, the Aggies recorded another 48.900, this time on vault. Freshman Trinity Brown and junior Rebecca Wells each had a 9.825 to tie for fifth and lead USU on the event. For Brown, it was a career-high-tying score. In the third rotation, the Aggies had a 49.050 on bars. Sophomore Brianna Brooks led USU with a career-high-tying 9.875 to tie for fourth. USU shined in the fourth routine, recording a 49.500 on beam – the second-best score in program history. Freshman Kielyn McCright tied for second on the event with a career-high 9.925, which is tied for eighth all-time in school history.

• Utah State's men's and women's indoor track & field teams continue their indoor seasons this weekend at the Washington Invitational on Friday and Saturday, Jan. 28-29, and at the Idaho State Invitational on Saturday, Jan. 29.

NTS --- at Nebraska Invitational
• Utah State's men's and women's indoor track & field teams continued their 2022 indoor season last weekend at the Nebraska Invitational. USU came away with 26 top-five finishes on the day, plus a victory in the men's mile courtesy of sophomore Brennan Benson, who finished with a personal-best time of 4:12.77. On the women's side, three athletes placed their names in the top-10 all-time at USU. Junior Gabriella Holmstrom placed third in the 60 meters with a time of 7.66, also setting the fourth-fastest time in school history at 7.65 in the preliminary round. Senior Alexis Koetitz finished fourth in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.73, placing her just ahead of fellow Aggie Abbey Bryant for seventh all-time. Bryant also finished seventh in the event with a time of 8.86. Senior Anna Parkinson also edged into 10th all-time at USU in the pole vault, clearing 3.67 meters (12-0.50) to finish fourth in the competition.

• Utah State men's tennis (0-0, 0-0 MW) will continue its 2022 spring season this weekend with a pair of matches as it plays at Washington on Friday, Jan. 28, at 5 p.m. (MT) and then faces Idaho in a neutral-court match in Seattle, Washington, on Saturday, Jan. 29, at 2 p.m. (MT).

• Utah State men's tennis began its 2022 spring season with a 6-1 home win against Idaho State last weekend. The Aggies won the doubles point sophomore Jack Ninteman and junior Javier Ruiz posted a 6-1 win at the second position, while senior Felipe Acosta and freshman Sergi Mico Fenollar recorded a 6-2 win at the third position. In singles play, junior David Cierny won in three-sets at the No. 1 spot (4-6, 7-5, 6-3). Junior Bodin Zarkovic won in straight sets at the No. 2 spot (6-1, 7-6 (7-1). Acosta won in straight sets at the No. 3 spot (6-2, 6-3). Junior Roko Savin won in three-sets at the No. 4 spot (6-3, 4-6, 7-5). And, junior Javier Ruiz won in three-sets at the No. 6 spot (5-7, 6-3, 10-6).
