LOGAN, Utah – Two Utah State gymnasts were honored by the Mountain Rim Gymnastics Conference following their respective performances last weekend at the Arizona quad meet.
Utah State freshman
Brie Clark earned her third-straight MRGC Floor Specialist of the Week honor after scoring a 9.925 to tie for first on the event and help the 23rd-ranked Aggies finish second in the meet with a season-high 196.350.
Utah State's 196.350 is tied for the 10th-best score in school history, including the sixth-best score on the road. No. 3 Oklahoma placed first (197.900) in the meet, No. 19 Stanford took third (195.725) and Arizona finished fourth (193.755).
Clark wasn't alone in earning MRGC Floor Specialist of the Week honors as she shared the award with Southern Utah's Hannah Nipp and Karley McClain, as the duo also scored a 9.925 on the event in the Thunderbirds' 196.450-196.425 win over BYU last weekend in Cedar City, Utah.
Utah State freshman
Kielyn McCright scored a personal-best 9.925 on beam in the quad meet to earn MRGC Beam Specialist of the Week accolades, becoming the third different gymnast to earn the award this season.
McCright, who tied for second on the event, helped the Aggies record a 49.500 on beam – the second-best score in program history. Her 9.925 is tied for eighth all-time in school history.
No. 23 Utah State (5-2, 2-0 MRGC) remains on the road this week when the Aggies travel to Provo, Utah, for a conference dual meet against No. 21 BYU (2-3, 1-2 MRGC) on Friday, Jan. 28, at 7 p.m., at the Smith Fieldhouse.
