LOGAN, Utah – Utah State's 23rd-ranked gymnastics team continues its season on the road when the Aggies travel south to Provo for a top-25 Mountain Rim Gymnastics Conference showdown against No. 21 BYU on Friday, Jan. 28.
The dual meet featuring the Aggies (5-2, 2-0 MRGC) and Cougars (2-3, 1-2) is slated to begin at 7 p.m., and streamed live on
byutv.org. Live scoring will be available online at

Utah State comes into Friday's meet fresh off a second-place finish at the Arizona quad meet. Behind another stellar performance on floor from freshman
Brie Clark, the Aggies recorded a season-high 196.350 last Saturday at the McKale Center in Tucson, Arizona.
No. 3 Oklahoma placed first with a 197.900, while No. 19 Stanford took third with a 195.725 and Arizona finished fourth with a 193.775. The 196.350 by the Aggies is tied for the 10th-best score in school history, including the sixth-best score on the road.
After just three meets, Utah State is off to its best start yet under fifth-year head coach
Amy Smith. This is also the Aggies' best start to a season since opening the 2017 campaign with an identical 5-2 mark.
Utah State currently ranks 18th nationally on bars (49.025) and 22nd on floor (49.100), and is tied for 19th on beam (48.975). Individually, Clark is first in the MRGC and tied for ninth in the nation on floor (9.933).
On beam, junior
Sofi Sullivan ranks first in the conference and tied for 31st nationally (9.875), while freshman
Kielyn McCright ranks second in the MRGC (9.858) and junior
Rebecca Wells ranks third (9.850).
Sophomore
Brianna Brooks is third in the MRGC on bars (9.867).
BYU leads the all-time series with Utah State 85-50-1. The two teams most recently met at the season-opening Rio Tinto Best of Utah Meet, on Jan. 7, at the Maverik Center in West Valley City. Utah finished first with a 197.100, followed by the Aggies with a 195.875. The Cougars took third with a 195.225, while Southern Utah finished fourth with a 195.000.
The Cougars are ranked 15th nationally on bars (49.108) and 18th on beam (48.983). Individually, Lexi Griffith is tied for 21st in the nation on vault (9.875) and Anyssa Alvarado is tied for 19th on beam (9.888).
The Cougars, competing at home for the first time this season, come into Friday's meet fresh off a 196.450-196.425 loss to SUU last weekend at the America First Event Center in Cedar City.
