LOGAN, Utah – Utah State's men's cross country team ranks No. 5 in Week 4 of the NCAA DI Cross Country Regional Rankings, which were released Monday by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).

On the women's side, the Aggies climbed six spots to No. 6 in the Mountain Region.

The top four spots in the men's Mountain Region remained unchanged with BYU at No. 1, Northern Arizona at No. 2, Colorado at No. 3 and Air Force at No. 4.

The Aggies climbed up one spot from No. 6 after they placed third out of 46 teams last Friday at the Lehigh-hosted Paul Short Run in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. Senior Camren Todd led Utah State as he finished third overall out of 428 runners with a time of 23:07.4 in the Men's College Gold 8K race.

As a team, Utah State finished with 105 points, beating nationally-ranked Georgetown in the process.

Besides the Aggies and Falcons, four other schools from the Mountain West are in the top 15 of the region in Colorado State (seventh; up one), Wyoming (eighth; up one), New Mexico (11th; down one) and Nevada (12th; down one).

On the women's side, New Mexico, which was previously not ranked for the last two weeks, is now the top-ranked team in the Mountain Region. The Lobos debuted their A squad at the Joe Piane Notre Dame Invitational last weekend and placed second overall.

With the Lobos now on top of the region, Northern Arizona fell one spot to No. 2, while BYU remained unchanged at No. 3. Utah dropped two spots to No. 4 and Colorado dropped a spot to No. 5.

Utah State soared six spots from No. 12 to No. 6 after the Aggies finished fourth out of 46 teams at the Paul Short Run. Ana Weaver was the first USU runner to cross the finish line as the sophomore placed 13th overall out of 427 individuals with a time of 19:56.5. As a team, the Aggies finished with 191 points, beating nationally-ranked Utah Valley in the process.

Besides the Aggies and Lobos, four other schools from the MW are in the top 15 of the region in Colorado State (eighth; down three), Wyoming (ninth; down two), Air Force (10th; down two) and Nevada (15th; down two).

Regional rankings are determined subjectively by a single member coach in each respective region. The regional representative is tasked with weighing returning teams' strength with current season results (if applicable) in determining a rank-order of squad potential. Only USTFCCCA member programs are eligible to receive a ranking. Teams with provisional status within the region may be ranked.

The Aggies return to action on Friday, Oct. 7, at 3 p.m., when they host their second home meet of the season, the Steve T. Reeder Memorial Invitational on the Steve and Dona Reeder Cross Country Course.
