LOGAN, Utah – Utah State's gymnastics team is ranked No. 14 in the country in Week 7 of the Road to Nationals rankings, which were released Monday.
This is the first week that rankings are determined by National Qualifying Score (NQS), which is calculated with the six-highest scores of the season, at least three of which must be from away meets. The highest of the six scores is dropped, and the remaining five scores are averaged.
Utah State's NQS:
195.875 – Away (Jan. 7, at Rio Tinto Best of Utah Meet)
196.350 – Away (Jan. 22, at Arizona Quad Meet)
196.450 – Away (Jan. 28, at BYU)
196.425 – Home (Feb. 4, vs. Southern Utah and Ball State)
196.800 – Away (Feb. 11, at Southern Utah)
195.800 – Away (Feb. 18, at Boise State)
NQS: 196.180
Utah State's initial NQS of 196.180 is the highest in school history.
Three of the four teams from the Mountain Rim Gymnastics Conference are ranked in the top 25 this week as BYU jumped six spots to No. 12, while Southern Utah also climbed six spots to No. 17. Boise State has only competed in four meets this season, therefore does not have an NQS ranking.
