LOGAN, Utah - Utah State senior forward Brandon Horvath has been named the America First Credit Union USU Student-Athlete of the Week, for the week ending Sunday, Feb. 6. The award is voted on by a state-wide media panel.
With their sponsorship of the Student-Athlete of the Week, America First Credit Union donates funds directly to support student-athlete scholarships.
Horvath (West River, Maryland) helped Utah State to a 3-0 Mountain West record last week with home wins against Air Force (73-46), San José State (78-62) and UNLV (90-75). Against the Falcons, Horvath flirted with a triple-double after finishing with 17 points, nine rebounds and seven assists, all while shooting 87.5 percent (7-of-8) from the floor and 75.0 percent (3-of-4) at the free throw line. Against the Spartans, Horvath led the Aggies in every statistical category as he finished with 19 points, 11 rebounds, five assists, three blocks and two steals, while shooting 50.0 percent (8-of-16) from the floor and 100.0 percent at the charity stripe (3-of-3). And against UNLV, Horvath finished with 17 points, nine rebounds, five assists and one block, while shooting 62.5 percent (5-of-8) from the floor, 50.0 percent (2-of-4) from deep and 62.5 percent (5-of-8) at the free throw line. For the week, Horvath averaged 17.7 points, 9.7 rebounds, 5.7 assists, 1.7 blocks and 0.7 steals per game, while shooting 62.5 percent (20-of-32) from the floor, 28.6 percent (2-of-7) from behind the 3-point line and 73.3 percent (11-of-15) from behind the 3-point line.

WOMEN'S BASKETBALL – Junior guard/forward Adryana Quezada (Frisco, Texas) scored in double figures in back-to-back games last week as Utah State lost at home to San Diego State (68-67) and UNLV (72-60). Against the Aztecs, Quezada had 18 points, four rebounds, two assists and a steal. And against the Lady Rebels, she had 17 points, eight rebounds, two assists, two blocks and a steal. For the week, Quezada averaged 17.5 points, 6.0 rebounds, 2.0 assists, 1.0 blocks and 1.0 steals per game, while shooting 57.1 percent (16-of-28) from the field, 50.0 percent (1-of-2) from behind the 3-point line and 50.0 percent (2-of-4) at the free throw line.
GYMNASTICS – Junior Rebecca Wells (Smyrna, Tennessee) tied for first on floor with a 9.875 and won the all-around with a personal-best 39.250 in Utah State's tri-meet home sweep against Southern Utah and Ball State last weekend. Wells helped the Aggies finish with a 196.425, which is the fifth-best home score in program history. Wells also tied for third on vault (9.850), placed 14th on bars (9.600) and placed second on beam (personal-best 9.925, which is tied for ninth all-time in school history). As a team, the Aggies scored a 49.475 on beam, which is tied for third all-time in school history.
MEN'S TENNIS – Freshman Sergi Micó Fenollar (Playa de San Juan, Spain) posted victories in both doubles and singles play in Utah State's 5-2 win at Weber State last weekend. The Spaniard teamed with graduate senior Felipe Acosta for a 7-6 win at the third position to help secure the doubles point for the Aggies. Micó Fenollar then posted a straight-sets win at No. 4 singles (6-1, 6-0).
WOMEN'S TENNIS – Sophomore Lisa Küng (Stein am Rhein, Switzerland) won both her doubles and singles match during Utah State's 4-3 home loss to Idaho State last weekend. Küng teamed with redshirt junior Sidnee Lavatai for a 6-3 win at the second doubles position for USU's only victory in doubles play. Küng then posted a straight-sets win at No. 2 singles (6-2, 6-1).
MEN'S INDOOR TRACK & FIELD – Senior Skyler Andam (Sandy, Utah) claimed two individual titles at the Utah State-hosted Speed and Power Meet last weekend as he won the 60-meters with a personal-best time of 6.97 and the long jump with a mark of 6.88 meters (22-7.00).
WOMEN'S INDOOR TRACK & FIELD – Sophomore Abbey Bryant (Santa Clarita, California) won the 60-meter hurdles at the Utah State-hosted Aggie Speed and Power Meet last weekend, setting a new facility record at the George Nelson Fieldhouse with a time of 8.63. The mark also places her fifth all-time in school history in the event.
