NORTHRIDGE, California — Utah State women's tennis defeated CSUN, 4-3, on Wednesday at the Matador Tennis Complex. The Aggies are now 5-3 on the year, including a 4-1 mark away from home.

In a closely contested match, the Aggies started off doubles play adroitly. Junior Zeynep Naz Ozturk and sophomore Lisa Küng scored a 6-1 win on court two. Juniors Zara Ryan and Carolina Millan then outlasted the opposition at the third position, 7-5, to secure the doubles point for USU.

The Matadors struck first in singles play to tie the match at the third position. Küng then put the Aggies back on top with a win at the second spot, 3-6, 6-4, 6-1, over CSUN's Fraile Toboso. Naz Ozturk then put USU at the brink of victory with a 6-4, 6-4 win over Santibanez Luna at the fifth position. Following a loss at No. 6, Millan clinched the win for Utah State at the first position with 6-1, 5-7, 6-3 win over Jolene Coetzee.

Now at 5-3, Utah State is off to their best overall start since starting 7-2 in 2017. USU's 4-1 start in road and neutral matches is also the program's best start away from home since going 6-1 in such matches to start the 2014 season.

The Aggies will continue their California road trip on Saturday when they take on Cal State Fullerton at 2:30 p.m. (MT).
