LOGAN, Utah – Utah State's golf team returns to action this week at the UC Santa Barbara Collegiate Invitational in Santa Barbara, California.
 
The Aggies will join 13 other teams at the 54-hole event, which takes place Monday and Tuesday, April 11-12, at the picturesque 7,040-yard, par-72 Sandpiper Golf Club.
 
Along with Utah State and the host Gauchos, the 14-team field is comprised of California Baptist, Cal Poly, CSUN, Dixie State, Grand Canyon, Gonzaga, Northern Colorado, Sacramento State, Southern Utah, Northern Colorado, UC Riverside and Weber State.
 
Scheduled to compete this week for the Aggies are sophomore Javier Vazquez (No. 1), sophomore John Cook (No. 2), freshman Esteban Jaramillo (No. 3), senior Cameron Tucker (No. 4) and senior Jesse Henderson (No. 5).
 
Utah State placed fourth at last year's UC Santa Barbara Collegiate, firing a 6-over 870. Of the Aggies' returnees, Henderson climbed 11 spots to tie for 22nd at 5-over 221 after shooting even par in the final round. Vazquez tied for 41st at 10-over 226 and Tucker, playing as an individual, tied for 50th at 15-over 231.
 
In Utah State's last outing, the Aggies placed 22nd at the Wyoming Cowboy Classic, which was contested at Whirlwind Golf Club at Wild Horse Pass, on April 4-5, in Chandler, Arizona. USU posted a 54-hole score of 15-over 879 (293-289-297) at the 7,334-yard, par-72 Cattail Course.
 
Vazquez led the Aggies as he tied for 40th at even-par 216, which included a career-low-tying 3-under 69 in the opening round.
