LOGAN, Utah — Utah State women's tennis lost, 4-0, to New Mexico on Sunday at the Sports Academy Racquet Club. 

USU started strong in doubles play with senior Annaliese County and junior Carolina Millan scoring 6-1 victory at the third position. Losses at the top two spots of doubles, however, gave the Lobos the early advantage in the match.

In singles play, three straight-set victories at the third, fourth and sixth positions clinched the victory for New Mexico. When play was suspended, both Millan and junior Zeynep Naz Ozturk were one point away from victory. Millan led, 6-3, 5-3, at the top spot of singles play while Naz Ozturk led, 6-3, 5-1, at the fifth position. Sophomore Lisa Kung had also forced a third set at the second position when her match was suspended with the score at 3-6, 6-4, 0-1.

Utah State will look to rebound next week with two matches in Laramie, Wyoming. The Aggies will first face off against Wyoming on Friday, April 15, at 10 a.m. (MT). USU will conclude the week versus Colorado State on Saturday, April 16, at 2 p.m. (MT).
