GOLETA, Calif. – Utah State's golf team placed sixth at the UC Santa Barbara Collegiate Invitational, which concluded with the final round Tuesday afternoon.
The second round of the two-day tournament was canceled due to windy conditions, so the Aggies finished with a 36-hole score of 18-over 594 on the picturesque 7,040-yard, par-72 Sandpiper Golf Club.
Grand Canyon and CSUN tied for first at even-par 576. Grand Canyon's Matteo Cristoni captured individual medalist honors as he finished with a 5-under 139, including an eye-popping 7-under 65 in the final round.
Utah State had a pair of golfers record top-20 finishes as seniors
Jesse Henderson and
Cameron Tucker tied for 17th at 3-over 147. Freshman
Esteban Jaramillo tied for 29th at 5-over 149. Sophomores
John Cook and
Javier Vazquez finished the two-day tourney tied for 45th at 8-over 152.
Henderson carded the best round of the day for the Aggies on Tuesday as he shot an even-par 72. He tied for the tournament lead in par-5 scoring at 7-under.
