• Utah State softball (25-20, 10-5 Mountain West) continues its 2022 campaign with four games this week as it plays at Utah Valley (18-19, 9-9 WAC) on Wednesday, April 27, at 2 p.m., before hosting Boise State (31-10, 10-5 MW) in a three-game Mountain West series. The first game against the Broncos will be on Friday, April 29, at 4 p.m., while the final two games on Saturday and Sunday, April 30 and May 1, will both begin at noon. All-time, the Aggies are 26-31 against the Wolverines and 11-23 against the Broncos. • Utah State recorded a pair of comeback wins last week with a 10-9 victory at Idaho State before going 1-2 at UNLV (L, 0-6; W, 3-2; L, 1-2). Two Aggies saw time in the circle, combining for a 3.77 ERA. The USU pitching staff allowed 33 hits and 14 earned runs, while striking out 10 batters and walking 13. Junior center fielder Mazie Macfarlane led USU at the plate after batting .385 (5-of-13). As a team, USU hit .200 (20-of-100), including four doubles and four home runs. Junior first baseman Makenzie Macfarlane led the Aggies defensively with 31 putouts and two assists.

• Utah State's golf team will conclude its 2022 spring season on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, April 29-May 1, at the Mountain West Championships, which will be held in Bremerton, Washington.

6th/13 --- at UC Santa Barbara Invite
• Utah State placed sixth out of 13 teams at the UC Santa Barbara Collegiate Invitational two weeks ago. The second round of the two-day tournament was canceled due to windy conditions, so the Aggies finished with a 36-hole score of 18-over 594 on the 7,040-yard, par-72 Sandpiper Golf Club. Grand Canyon and CS Northridge tied for first at even-par 576. Grand Canyon's Matteo Cristoni captured individual medalist honors as he finished with a 5-under 139, including an eye-popping 7-under 65 in the final round. USU had a pair of golfers record top-20 finishes as seniors Jesse Henderson and Cameron Tucker tied for 17th at 3-over 147. Freshman Esteban Jaramillo tied for 29th at 5-over 149. Sophomores John Cook and Javier Vazquez finished the two-day tourney tied for 45th at 8-over 152. Henderson carded the best round of the day for the Aggies on Tuesday as he shot an even-par 72. He tied for the tournament lead in par-5 scoring at 7-under.

• Utah State men's and women's outdoor track & field teams continue their respective seasons on Friday and Saturday, April 29-30, at the Idaho State Invitational and at the Drake Relays.

NTS --- at BYU Invitational
• Utah State claimed five titles and 14 top-three finishes at the BYU hosted-Robison Invitational last weekend. Junior Dominic Bentil kicked off USU's quintet of titles by winning the 200 meters with a time of 20.99, which ranks ninth all-time in school history. Freshman Mitchell Athay won the men's 5,000 meters with a time of 15:46.07. And sophomore Brandon Ovington won the shot put with a mark of 16.79 meters (55-1.00). For the Aggie women, senior Maia Garren won the shot put with a mark of 15.79 meters (51-9.75). Garren also placed third in the hammer with a throw of 57.54 meters (188-9.25), which ranks 10th all-time in school history. Sophomore Abbey Bryant finished second in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 13.82, which ranks ninth all-time in school history. USU's final title of the weekend came in the women's 4x400-meter relay as sophomores Olivia Smith, Delphine Dah and Emma Reeves teamed with freshman Alison Richter to place first with a time of 3:44.7.

• Utah State women's tennis (6-13, 1-9 MW) is the No. 11 seed in the upcoming Mountain West Championships, which will be held in Tucson, Arizona. USU will begin the tournament against No. 6 seed Wyoming (9-8, 5-5 MW) in a first round match on Wednesday, April 27, at 1 p.m. (MT). If USU advances to the quarterfinals, it will face No. 3 seed San Diego State (14-6, 6-2 MW) on Thursday, April 28, at 2 p.m. (MT). If USU advances to the semifinals it will play on Friday, April 29, at 2 p.m. (MT). And the championship match will be on Saturday, April 30, at 11 a.m (MT). • Utah State lost both of its Mountain West matches last weekend in Boise, Idaho, to San José State (L, 1-4) and No. 67 Fresno State (L, 1-4). Against the Spartans, USU won the doubles point as junior Zeynep Naz Ozturk and sophomore Lisa Kung posted a 6-1 win at the first position, while juniors Annaliese County and Carolina Millan recorded a 7-5 win at the third position. Against the Bulldogs, USU again claimed the doubles point as senior Gabrielle Dekkers and junior Sidnee Lavatai won at the second position in a tiebreak, 7-6 (7-5), before County and Millan won at the third position in a tiebreak, 7-6 (8-6).

• Utah State posted a 1-1 Mountain West record last week with a 4-2 loss at Air Force and a 4-3 win at New Mexico. Against the Falcons, senior Felipe Acosta won in three sets at the No. 4 spot (6-3, 3-6, 6-2) and junior Javier Ruiz won in three sets at the No. 6 spot (6-0, 4-6, 6-0). Against the Lobos, USU lost the doubles point as juniors David Cierny and Bodin Zarkovic scored a 6-1 win at the first position. In singles play, junior David Cierny won in three sets at the No. 2 spot (5-7, 6-3, 6-2). Acosta won in straight sets at the No. 4 spot (7-5, 6-3). Junior Roko Savin won in three sets at the No. 5 spot (7-5, 3-6, 7-5). And Ruiz won in three sets at the No. 6 spot (6-3, 3-6, 7-6 (8-6).
