RENO, Nevada — Utah State women's tennis lost to Nevada, 4-1, on Saturday at the McArthur Tennis Center.
Utah State jumped out to an early lead in the match, capturing the doubles points with wins at the second and third positions. At the No. 2-spot, junior Zeynep Naz Ozturk and sophomore Lisa Kung won, 6-1, while senior Annaliese County and junior Carolina Millan won, 6-2, at the No. 3-spot.
The Aggies' momentum continued into singles play as USU won the first set in three matches. However, straight-set losses at the first, second and fourth positions put Utah State into a 3-1 deficit. A third-set victory at the No. 5-spot then secured the win for Nevada. At the time of clinch, junior Sidnee Lavatai led at the sixth position, 6-2, 6-6, while junior Zara Ryan faced a deficit in the third set with the match score at 6-1, 4-6, 2-4.
Utah State returns home for their first match in Logan since Friday, March 4. The Aggies will host Air Force at the Sports Academy & Racquet Club on Saturday, April 9, at 10 a.m. (MT).
