LOGAN, Utah – Utah State graduate quarterback Logan Bonner has been named to the 2022 Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award Watch List, it was announced Wednesday.

This is the largest selection of active quarterbacks in the history of the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award as there are 76 players on the list, including four from the Mountain West in Bonner, Boise State's Hank Bachmeier, San Diego State's Braxton Burmeister and Fresno State's Jake Haener.

Additionally, BYU's Jaren Hall and Utah's Cameron Rising made the 76-player list.

During the 2021 campaign, Bonner set five single-season school records with 3,628 yards passing, 36 touchdown passes, four touchdown passes in three-straight games, four touchdown passes in six games in a season and 2.57 touchdown passes per game.

On the season, Bonner was 263-of-429 (.613) passing to rank fourth in school history in completions, sixth in attempts and seventh in completion percentage. He also had 3,694 yards of total offense to rank as the second-most in school history.

Bonner's 36 touchdown passes a year ago are tied for the fourth-most in a single season in Mountain West history and the seventh-most in school history for a career. Five of those TD passes came in the Aggies' 35-10 win at New Mexico, tying the single-game school record.

In helping lead Utah State to its first-ever Mountain West title with a dominating 46-13 victory at No. 19 San Diego State, Bonner set championship game records for most passing touchdowns (4) and most touchdowns responsible for (4).

Bonner was named the offensive MVP of the MW championship game after completing 29-of-42 passes for 318 yards and those four TDs, setting season highs in both completions and attempts.

The 6-foot-1, 230-pound native of Rowlett, Texas, is also on the Davey O'Brien, Manning, Maxwell and College Football Performance Award preseason watch lists, and is a preseason second-team all-Mountain West selection by both Athlon Sports and Phil Steele.

The preseason watch list, semifinalists, finalists and award recipient are selected by the distinguished Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Selection Committee, a group of prominent college football journalists, commentators, announcers, and former players. The award annually recognizes the top senior or upperclassman quarterback set to graduate with their class. Candidates are chosen based on player performance on-and-off the field heading into the 2022 campaign.

The 2022 award winner will be presented the Golden Arm Award trophy by The Johnny Unitas
Educational Foundation President, John Unitas, Jr., at the Golden Arm Award banquet and celebration at the Four Seasons Hotel in Baltimore, Maryland, on Wednesday, Dec. 7.

Utah State opens the 2022 season at home against Connecticut on Saturday, Aug. 27. The game will be televised nationally on Fox Sports 1, at 2 p.m.
